2024 Heavyweight Overseas Films Coming (Episode 4)

Alien: Romulus

Release Date: August 16th (North America)

Director: Fede Alvarez

Starring: Isabella Morshead / Carly Spaeny / Archie Raynor / Spike Finn / David Ronson

The Alien franchise is also getting a new installment this year, as Fede Alvarez (Hold Your Breath) takes over with Alien: Romulus.

The classic sci-fi horror series began a new worldview expansion in the 2010s after four films in the last century with Prometheus and Alien: Covenant, and Ridley Scott plans to continue expanding the universe.

This time around, Alien: Romulus is set between Alien 1 and Alien 2, with a younger generation cast for both director and cast, and Ridley Scott producing, which may bring a younger flavor and more room for the series to grow.

With a sequel to Alien: Covenant on the horizon, we'll be seeing this classic monster continue to "kill it" on the silver screen for years to come.

Kraven the Hunter

Release Date: August 30th (North America)

Director: J.C. Shandor

Starring: Aaron Taylor-Johnson / Russell Crowe / Ariane DeBose / Christopher Abbott / Alejandro Nivola

Another new superheroine on the scene this year, Kraven the Hunter is also currently slated for a summer release.

The protagonist of the story is a teenager Sergei Kravinoff, who almost died in the mouth of a lion under his father's Spartan model of education, and who accidentally mutated because of the lion's blood when he was on the verge of death, becoming Kraven the Hunter, a hunter with supernatural powers.

Although Kraven starts out on a path of revenge against his father, he realizes that his mission is not that simple as the villains make their appearance.

Filled with wildness and raw natural power, Kraven the Hunter is also quite unique in style within Marvel's current superhero sequences - will this bloodthirsty superhero be on your mind this year?

The Underworld 2

Release Date: September 6 (North America)

Director: Tim Burton

Starring: Jenna Ortega / Winona Ryder / Michael Keaton / Catherine O'Hara / Monica Bellucci

Geeky director Tim Burton has a new movie this year as well, and it's the rather surprising Mage of the Underworld 2.

Released in 1988, The Master of the Underworld is an early Tim Burton classic, a fantastical comedy about a couple who become ghosts and don't want the new occupants to wreak havoc on their house, so they call on the Master of the Underworld for help.

The Great Master of the Underworld

This sequel after more than 30 years will see the return of both Michael Keaton and Winona Ryder from the previous movie, in addition to Monica Bellucci, who is romantically involved with Tim Burton, joining the cast, which can be best described as bombastic.

Of course, I'm sure there are a lot of fans who are thinking that if Johnny Depp can also join in, it might awaken more classic memories in their hearts.

Transformers: The Beginning

Release Date: September 13 (North America)

Director: Josh Cooley

Starring: Chris Hemsworth / Scarlett Johansson / Brian Tyree Henry / Jon Hamm / Laurence Fishburne

This year will also see the release of an animated installment of the Transformers franchise, titled Transformers: Primeval.

As you can tell from the title, the film's story centers around the origins of the Transformers, and takes place on the Transformers' home planet of Cybertron, telling the tale of a young Optimus Prime and Megatron, who go from hand-to-hand to enemies.

The voice cast is joined by Hammer, Widow and Jon Hamm, and although it is animated, the magnificent cast list is still not to be ignored, and fans of these actors can pay more attention.

The Wolf Repairman

Release Date: September 20 (North America)

Director: Joe Watts

Starring: Brad Pitt / George Clooney / Amy Ryan / Austin Abrams

The hunky team-up is back, with Brad Pitt and George Clooney's "The Wolf Repairman" recently set for a September 2024 release in North America.

The movie focuses on two "lone wolf" fixers who begin to cross paths when they are assigned the same mission. Sony, Lionsgate and Netflix were all very interested in the story, but Apple finally sealed the deal and the film is set for this fall.

The two men working together again on screen is the biggest attraction, and it may remind many viewers of the Ocean's Eleven series, so we'll see what new sparks will come out of this collaboration.

Joker 2

Release Date: October 4 (North America)

Director: Todd Phillips

Starring: Joaquin Phoenix / Lady Gaga / Brydan Gleeson / Catherine Keener / Sage Baez

What everyone has been waiting for is finally here, the original cast returns and Joker 2 descends.

2019's Joker picked up 11 nominations at the Oscars and ended up getting Joaquin Phoenix his first Oscar trophy, and the movie became the most iconic film in the history of comic book superhero movies.

This year's sequel, Joker 2, will continue to tell the story of the Joker's inner world and insanity, with Uncle Phoenix continuing to star as the Joker and Lady Gaga playing Harley Quinn, the Joker's psychiatrist and later Joker Woman.

Lady Gaga was previously nominated for an Oscar for "A Star is Born", and it's worth waiting to see if she can go one step further in a strong collaboration this time around.

The Joker, as an unconventional commercial logic of super British works, in a crowd of similar visual blockbusters out of their own way, whether the sequel can continue the super god performance of the previous work, look forward to the big screen to see each other.

Venom 3

Release Date: November 8 (North America)

Director: Kelly Marcel

Starring: Tom Hardy / Juno Temple / Chevatt Egafor / Tom Hyland / Benedict Cumberbatch

Also set to debut in the end of the year phase of the super British is Sony Marvel Universe's Venom 3.

After the post-credits egg preview of Venom 2, this one will see Venom finally welcome his comic book love interest Spider-Man, with Tom "Dutchie" Hyland joining the cast as Peter Parker, who will embark on a new adventure with Venom.

Venom 2.

It's worth noting that Kelly Marcel, who wrote the first two installments, has been elevated to direct the third, while Tom Hardy himself continues to be involved in the screenplay and has a major influence on the project.

With Venom and Spider-Man completing their connection, what more action will Sony's Marvel Universe have in store for the next installment?

Zootopia 2.

Release Date: November 17th (North America)

Director: Byron Howard

Starring: Ginnifer Goodwin / Jason Bateman

The most can't-miss, gender-neutral movie of 2024 is the only one of its kind, and Animal Crossing 2 is finally here.

Not only was 2016's Zootopia the best Disney animation in the last few years, it has its place in the entire animated movie scene. After 7 years, Zootopia is finally bringing a sequel.

The new story will continue to center around Judy the Rabbit and Nick the Fox, and will bring answers to what new troubles they will encounter with their friends in Animal City, and more importantly, how their relationship will further develop.

'Zootopia 2' was previously scheduled to hit theaters in 2021, and it can't wait any longer!
