On July 12, Russian media reported that a Sukhoi Super 100 airliner (Super Jet-100NEW95) crashed in Moscow.

 

There were three crew members on board. According to preliminary information, all crew members were killed. A criminal case has been opened.

The crew on board were pilots from the Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company.

Russia's Emergency Services Ministry said in a statement on Friday (July 12) that the plane crashed in a forested area. There were no casualties among the population. Emergency services have cordoned off the crash site and are investigating the incident.

 

 

Specialists have recovered two black boxes, which are in good condition, from the crash site of the Sukhoi Super 100 airliner in Moscow Region.

 

According to social media reports, the plane had sent out a distress signal and circled in the air to burn off fuel before crashing, but unfortunately crashed on its third attempt.

The Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100), also known as the Sukhoi Superjet-100, is a regional airliner designed and manufactured by Russia's Sukhoi Aviation Group.

 

Development of the aircraft began in 2000 and the first prototype was unveiled on September 26, 2007.In 2008, the first flight was completed.

 

 

Russia's state-owned defense conglomerate Rostech said the plane entered service in 2014, according to the BBC.

 

This is the third air crash involving the Sukhoi Superjet 100 since 2012.

 

On June 15, an An-26 from Russia's Utair Airlines (Utair) crashed during an emergency landing in the Arctic in bad weather, breaking the fuselage in two.

 

All 41 people on board survived, with only the captain, co-pilot and a passenger, three of whom were injured.
