Finlin Group to build the largest tissue mill in the UK

Finlin is planning to build the largest tissue mill in the United Kingdom, with a capacity of up to 240,000 tons per year.

The mill will be located in Goole, East Yorkshire, UK, and its main raw material will be virgin fiber, which will be sourced from sustainably managed forests in the Nordic region.

With this investment, Finlin Group says it will create the largest tissue mill in the UK. This will not only significantly increase local production and consumption, but also significantly enhance the UK's level of self-sufficiency in the tissue industry, which is expected to increase by 30 percentage points from the current level to 85%, and at the same time will help the UK and Ireland to significantly reduce their reliance on imported tissue.

The mill is expected to cover an area of approximately 200 acres and will be constructed in several phases over the next decade, it was announced. Once operating at full capacity, more than 400 direct jobs will be created at the mill, as well as thousands of jobs throughout the supply chain and local economy.

Metsä Tissue plans to capture a one-fifth share of the UK household paper market, and it is expected that the Goole mill will help achieve its goal. To manufacture all its products from completely fossil fuel-free raw materials and reduce fossil carbon emissions to zero by 2030.
